MANILA, Philippines — Investments approved by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) from January to October hit P310 billion, surpassing the agency’s full-year target and placing the agency on track to set a new record.
In a statement yesterday, the PEZA said that its investment approvals for the 10-month period represent a 77-percent increase from the P175.37 billion approved in the same period in 2025.
The approved investments as of end-October are also above the P300 billion target for this year, positioning the PEZA to beat the all-time high P311.9 billion investment approvals recorded in 2012.
The investments approved from January to October are for 240 new and expansion projects, which are expected to generate $9.12 billion in exports and create 38,815 direct jobs.
These projects cover export manufacturing, information technology and business process management (IT-BPM), facilities, ecozone development, logistics, domestic-market enterprises, utilities and tourism sectors.
In terms of foreign sources of investments, Taiwan topped the list, followed by the Netherlands, South Korea, Singapore and Indonesia.
For October alone, the PEZA cleared P12.49 billion worth of investments, down by 40 percent from P20.66 billion in the same month last year. The approved investments in October are for 18 projects, also lower than the 28 projects cleared last year.
Investment approvals in October are expected to yield $178.20 million in exports and create 5,484 direct jobs.
These approved investments are in manufacturing, IT-BPM, ecozone development, logistics and facilities.
“Surpassing our P300-billion investment target ahead of year-end reflects the confidence investors continue to place in the Philippines,” PEZA director general Tereso Panga said.
He said the PEZA is confident of setting a new record for investment approvals this year as it continues to receive more inquiries and interest from potential investors.
“Our priority now is to sustain this momentum and help translate these investment commitments into actual operations, more exports and high-value employment for Filipinos,” he said.
To continue the momentum, the PEZA said it is important to provide support to businesses amid a challenging economic environment.
“While we have exceeded our target, we recognize that businesses continue to face cost pressures and economic uncertainties. PEZA remains committed to working closely with our locators and prospective investors to address operational concerns, streamline processes and help them sustain and expand their presence in the country,” Panga said.
By supporting investors, he said the PEZA is able to protect existing jobs and create new opportunities for more Filipinos.
