MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. has directed accredited clinics to make available to PhilHealth members all essential medicine under the “Yaman ng Kalusugan Program” or YAKAP.
“Keep sufficient stocks of the covered medicine and maintain service standards under the program,” PhilHealth told its YAKAP providers.
Despite earlier complaints that some drugs under YAKAP have been out of stock, PhilHealth assured the public that 21 essential medicines under the program are available this year in accredited primary care facilities nationwide.
“All can avail themselves of the essential medicine in their chosen YAKAP clinic,” Edwin Mercado, PhilHealth president and chief executive officer, said.
The list includes amoxicillin, co-amoxiclav, cotrimoxazole, nitrofurantoin, ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin, oral rehydration salts, prednisone, salbutamol, fluticasone + salmeterol, paracetamol, gliclazide, metformin, simvastatin, enalapril, metoprolol, amlodipine, hydrochlorothiazide, losartan, aspirin and chlorphenamine.
PhilHealth said members may access the medicine in YAKAP-accredited clinics where they are enrolled to ensure timely treatment and continuous care.
