MANILA, Philippines — People living with human immunodeficiency virus can avail themselves of the enhanced outpatient HIV/AIDS treatment package of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).
Providing an annual benefit of P58,500, the package covers antiretroviral therapy and access to all necessary services required for effective HIV management, the state health insurer said yesterday, World AIDS Day.
Patients can access the package through 234 accredited HIV treatment hubs nationwide.
In 2024, PhilHealth disbursed P1.66 billion for 176,819 benefit claims.
With more young people infected amid rising HIV cases, parents are urged to “fully support their children and make them feel they are not alone,” PhilHealth president and CEO Erwin Mercado said.
“There is a future waiting for them through early prevention and regular treatment,” he maintained.
Authorities reported 5,583 HIV cases from July to September.
