It may have seemed easy for Pinky Amador to do villain roles yet she confessed feeling pressure, aware of how people expect her to give a different flavor every time she appears as a contravida.
It’s unforgettable how infuriating Pinky Amador was in her character Moira Tanyag in the GMA drama series “Abot-Kamay na Pangarap,” which lasted on air for over two years.
Her wickedness continues and this time, she is gang leader Soraya in another Kapuso soap “Binibining Marikit.”
It may have seemed easy for Pinky to do villain roles yet she confessed feeling pressure, aware of how people expect her to give a different flavor every time she appears as a contravida.
“Moira can’t be the same as Soraya. The latter is a criminal. She’s the wife of the mafia boss and then she takes over the job. Ibang level ‘yung kasamaan niya, talagang criminal, as opposed to Moira who started as the wronged wife. Her husband impregnated another woman and their illegitimate child became the opponent of their child. So, she’s more emotional, iba ang pinaghuhugutan ng galit niya,” described Pinky of the two mean characters.
Those affected by her role couldn’t help but blurt out nasty comments online. For the actress, those hateful remarks serve as validation of her acting performance. But whether she plays a villain or not, the success she’s been enjoying in her acting career is undeniable — from the first time she started performing on stage until now as a versatile actress in film and on TV.
“I went through everything to get to this point so I’m grateful even to the haters, thank you so much because you’re proving that I’m doing my work correctly,” said Pinky who studied acting at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, one of the most respected drama schools in the United Kingdom.
Every time there’s a slapping scene, Pinky makes it a point to only use the tip of her fingers to avoid hurting her co-star and she also gives a vocal cue for her co-star to be prepared for the action.
One unforgettable slapping scene for her was with Yasmien Kurdi. “I was slapped so hard, the whole set turned quiet and it took me a while to remember what my next dialogue was. But because I don’t want a Take 2, so I really tried hard to continue,” Pinky amusingly shared. “It’s part of the job.”
Pinky is happily single at the age of 59, but she is not closing her doors for a new love.
“Love always needs respect, always. ‘Pag nawawala ‘yun, then it might not be love,” said Pinky on her views about love.
She’s been loveless for a long time “but I’m not closing the door, and I found myself happy by myself, which I think is important before getting into a relationship.”
What’s good about being single for Pinky is having the freedom to do things without answering to anyone.
“Ang mahirap doon is syempre, very basic questions like mortality. Parang, may mag-aalaga ba sa akin pagtanda ko? May hahawak ba ng kamay ko on my deathbed? Morbid, I guess ‘yun ang pinakagrabe. But until we get to that point, wala naman.”
What scares her the most is to become dependent on others. “I am scared to become useless. I’m scared of becoming dependent on others. That really scares me,” she concluded.
