MANILA, Philippines —  It’s the end of the road for David Tan Liao as far as the Philippine National Police (PNP) is concerned, as it claims to have the evidence to pin the Chinese down in the kidnapping and killing of Filipino-Chinese businessman Anson Que and his driver last March.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil said they have obtained pieces of evidence showing Liao’s direct participation in Que’s killing, unlike in the five other crimes he was alleged to have committed.

“We have enough evidence. In fact, in our forensic nandun na sya,” Marbil told reporters.

Liao is one of the three people tagged by Marbil as masterminds in the killing of Que and his driver, Armanie Pabillo. The other two are Chinese woman Wenli Gong, alias Kelly Tan Lim, and one whom the PNP chief declined to identify.

Apart from forensic evidence, Marbil said they have closed circuit television footage which showed Liao in the house in Meycauayan City in Bulacan where Que and Pabillo were held and later killed.

“There’s scientific evidence that he’s there in the area where the victims had been taken. So we’re 100 percent sure,” Marbil said in Filipino. He vowed to have Liao and his cohorts put behind bars for the killing of the steel magnate and his driver.

The PNP on Monday revealed the P200-million ransom paid by Que’s family ended up in 10 different e-wallet accounts and was converted to cryptocurrency after passing through two junket operators, namely 9Dynasty Group and White Horse Club.

One of the e-wallets was owned by a Chinese national arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation in February for espionage.

Based on the information they have gathered, Marbil said Que knew Liao and Gong, the reason why the businessman never hesitated to meet them in Meycauayan.
