MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority have expanded the healthcare services for PNP and MMDA personnel and their dependents.
The PNP forged a healthcare partnership with the Cardinal Santos Medical Center, one of the premier private medical institutions in the country, while the MMDA forged an agreement with Rizal Medical Center for essential medical services.
“Our goal is to bring quality health and medical services closer to as many of our personnel, not only in Metro Manila but most importantly those who are in the provinces,” PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement yesterday.
The PNP’s expanded health services include a credit line worth P1 million for police officers wounded in law enforcement operations.
“Our personnel are in charge of the safety of the Filipino people. It is but logical and necessary to ensure that we also take care of them,” Nartatez said.
The MMDA also underscored its commitment to safeguarding the health of its workforce.
“Our personnel are on the frontlines every day. They manage traffic, respond to emergencies and maintain order on our roads,” said MMDA Chairman Don Artes. “It is our duty to ensure that when they encounter risks in the line of duty, they have immediate access to quality medical care.”
