MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police has ordered all PNP units to intensify its search for a missing eight-year-old boy, the son of slain SM/Sgt. Diane Marie Mollenido.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. instructed the National Capital Region and Central Luzon police offices to prioritize the case to find the boy and solve the murder of Mollenido, whose body was found in a creek in Barangay Dulong Malabon in Pulilan, Bulacan.

“Our priority right now is the safe recovery of her son. Our personnel are actively conducting search and rescue in coordination with local government units and other agencies concerned,” Nartatez said.

Mollenido and her son went missing on Jan. 16. They were heading to Novaliches in Quezon City on that day to meet her godchild who is a car dealer. The police officer wanted to sell her vehicle to a buyer.

“We are committed to ensuring a thorough investigation to uncover all the facts surrounding her disappearance and death,” Nartatez said in a statement.

Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin, National Capital Region police chief, said the victim’s husband, also a police officer, is a person of interest in the case.
