MANILA, Philippines — Nihilistic Violent Extremists (NVE), recognized globally as an emerging terrorist threat, is now grooming Filipino children through online games like Roblox and social media to carry out mass school shootings, police authorities revealed in a Senate hearing yesterday.
Testifying before the Senate committee on women and children, Col. Romeo Desiderio of the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) detailed how foreign radicals are indoctrinating minors into planning domestic terror plots.
“Most of the groomers, targeting our children, they are from abroad,” Desiderio told committee chair Sen. Risa Hontiveros.
He explained that these extremists push individuals to commit violence under the belief that human existence and society have no value.
On Jan. 13, the ACG rescued a group of high school students who were scheduled to carry out an attack on Feb. 16 during their school’s foundation week.
According to intercepted Facebook communications, the minors discussed using a fire extinguisher for a “blinding effect,” alongside improvised explosive devices and molotov cocktails.
The radicalized students had already inquired at a local firing range to practice shooting.
