MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to deploy 15,000 personnel for the “Traslacion” during the annual feast of Jesus Nazareno in Manila on January 9.

Major Philip Ines, spokesperson of the Manila Police District, said in an interview with DZBB on Saturday, January 3, that the police will also be augmented by personnel from other government agencies to help manage crowds, traffic, and emergency response.

“Mahigit kumulang 15,000 PNP personnel ang gagamitin natin dito,” Ines said in a DZBB interview.

(We will be deploying more or less 15,000 PNP personnel for this event.)

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) also said that it hopes the procession will be shortened to 10 to 12 hours.

“Yung goal natin na mas mabilis natin maipasok. From 20 hours noong nakaraang taon. Ang goal natin ngayon is kalahatian natin kahit from 10 to 12 hours man lamang,” NCRPO Public Information Office Chief Major Hazel Asilo said in a DZBB interview on Sunday, January 4.

(Our goal is to make the entry faster. From the 20 hours recorded last year, our target now is to cut that in half — to at least 10 to 12 hours.)

Asilo also said that the NCRPO plans to implement security protocols consistent with previous efforts, given that the 2026 procession will follow the same path as the 2025 event.

However, he clarified that police strategies will remain adaptable and will be adjusted based on real-time developments during the event on January 9.

Meanwhile, a “code white” alert will be in effect in public hospitals in Metro Manila and nearby regions for the upcoming feast of Jesus Nazareno.

The celebration of the feast of the Black Nazarene started on Dec. 31, 2025, and will culminate on Jan. 9, 2026.
