MANILA, Philippines — A police officer was arrested yesterday after he allegedly stabbed a colleague at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
The stabbing occurred at the office of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)’s Anti-Organized Crime Unit.
Investigation showed that Senior M/Sgt. Michael Camilo brandished a kitchen knife at two police officers who were witnesses in the cases filed against them.
Camilo’s co-accused, Executive M/Sgt. Erick Castro, rushed toward him and attempted to restrain him.
During the scuffle, Camilo allegedly stabbed Castro in the back.
Castro remains under observation at the Philippine National Police General Hospital due to blood loss. Camilo was placed under arrest.
Camilo and Castro were among the six police officers accused of stealing P13.45 million of the P141 million seized during an anti-trafficking operation in Bataan in 2024.
They were under restrictive custody at Camp Crame while being probed for violating the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.
