Big man Poy Erram is expected to sit out as TNT and San Miguel vie for control of the PBA Philippine Cup finals in Game 3

MANILA, Philippines – Injuries continue to pester TNT as another one of its key players got hurt.

Tropang 5G team manager Jojo Lastimosa said Poy Erram is doubtful for Game 3 of the PBA Philippine Cup finals on Friday, July 18, at the Araneta Coliseum after the big man suffered an ankle sprain.

“Being reevaluated, most likely out for next game,” said Lastimosa of Erram.

Erram twisted his right ankle with nine minutes left in the third quarter of Game 2, which TNT lost as San Miguel tied the best-of-seven series at 1-1 with a 98-92 victory.

He needed to be assisted off the court by his teammates and got wheelchaired on his way out of the Big Dome.

Averaging 6.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.3 blocks in this playoffs, Erram is the latest injury victim for a Tropang 5G side that dealt with the injury absences of Roger Pogoy and Kelly Williams.

Pogoy sustained a hamstring injury that kept him out of four games in the semifinals, while Williams missed two games before the finals due to sprained ankle.

Without Erram, TNT faces an even harder task of containing Beermen star June Mar Fajardo.

Fajardo, on pace to capture a record-extending 12th Best Player of the Conference award, averages 21.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 block in the finals.

Game 3 kicks off at 7:30 pm. – Rappler.com
