MANILA, Philippines — As President Marcos delivers his State of the Nation Address today, opposition lawmakers called for faster results on the flood control probe, as well as the prioritization of education and anti-corruption measures to help improve the country’s economic status.

Akbayan Rep. Chel Diokno challenged Marcos to “present concrete, actionable solutions to the skyrocketing cost of living, persistent inflation, rising fuel and electricity prices, and the continuing lack of quality employment opportunities, while providing meaningful and lasting relief to the Filipino people.”

“Amid these pressing challenges, the President must not forget education,” Diokno stressed.

“He should present clear and comprehensive initiatives to improve learning outcomes, address the classroom shortage and ensure that schools are safe and conducive to learning.”
