MANILA, Philippines — The oil shock is showing up beyond pump prices.
On Tuesday, April 22, the Civil Aeronautics Board raised the passenger fuel surcharge to Level 19 for April 16 to 30, a sharp jump tied to higher jet fuel costs. The surcharge would range from P627 to P1,834 for domestic flights and P2,070.77 to P15,397.15 for international flights.
Power costs are also back in focus, with energy relief now being managed for electricity bills. The Energy Regulatory Commission shortened the remaining Meralco refund period to one year to help cushion an expected May power-rate hike.
For pump prices, the April 21 rollback has lowered retail prices but has not erased the crisis-era increases.
