MANILA, Philippines — Fuel prices rose again Tuesday, May 5, as the government reported rapid inflation in April at 7.2%—the fastest pace in three years—due to the spike in food, transport and utility costs.

The Department of Energy said diesel prices increased by P2.66 per liter and gasoline by P2.21/L, while kerosene dropped by P3.53/L. The increases marked a return to pump price hikes after the late-April rollback streak.

The energy cost pressure has also widened into electricity. The DOE said it supports proposals to suspend, reduce or remove value-added tax on electricity if these would help lower power costs for consumers.

Here are the estimated pump price benchmarks for Wedneday, May 6.
