This was the common sentiment during Asia Society Philippines (ASPH) policy forum "Is Shared Prosperity Possible in a Fragmented World?: Confronting Polarization, Rebuilding Trust, and Advancing Inclusive Growth" held recently at Manila House, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

The proponents of the policy forum invited subject matter experts from the media, national security and civil society namely, Rappler editor at large Marites Dañguilan Vitug, Supreme Court retired senior associate justice Antonio Carpio and Liveable Cities Philippines chairman Guillermo Luz.

PumaPodcast founder and chairman Roby Alampay was also invited as forum moderator.

Vitug noted that there was a notable improvement in the present administration's media climate relative to the last, inasmuch as the current president has not publicly expressed the intention to harm journalists.

Carpio then gave a presentation about why it is imperative to support the country's defense of its sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea.

Luz explained the concept of "liveable" cities, which are focal points of inclusive growth, technological innovation and good governance, which all contribute to shared prosperity among its people.

A highlighted insight was the citizenry's acceptance of principled leadership, as evidenced by good leaders being reelected and elected to top posts.

Alampay said it is the collective value of the Filipino people, empowered by responsible media, education and inspirational leadership that will lead to prosperity.

ASPH Center head and managing director Natalie Christine Jorge said insights from these sessions will inform outputs such as discussion papers, podcasts and other forms of public knowledge sharing.
