MANILA, Philippines — Barbie Jamili was honored to be selected by her dream team, Creamline, where she will get the chance to play alongside her idol and fellow Adamson standout Jema Galanza.

Jamili was Creamline’s lone pick in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League Rookie Draft, taken eighth overall on Wednesday night at Novotel. Galanza was among those who welcomed her to the Cool Smashers.

“I’m really happy and feeling a lot of mixed emotions because I honestly didn’t expect to get drafted,” Jamili told the reporters in Filipino.

“I’m super excited and nervous at the same time. The challenges and pressure in the PVL are on a different level, so I’ll make sure to give everything I have,” she added.

The Adamson outside spiker said she has long looked up to Galanza because of her all-around game. That made the moment even more special when she received the Creamline scarf from Galanza, Denden Revilla and Ella De Jesus.

“I was starstruck, of course. Even with Ate Denden and the others, I was starstruck. It feels amazing because I really wasn’t expecting this,” Jamili said.

Galanza, a former league MVP, was equally happy for Jamili and assured the rookie that she is in good hands.

“I’m really happy for her because I saw an interview where she said it was her dream to make it to Creamline. If I were in her position and got into the team I had always wanted to join, I’d be just as excited and happy. I hope joining us will be worth it for her,” Galanza said in Filipino. “On our part, we always make sure that every new player who comes in gets the chance to learn, grow, and improve. More importantly, we want them to enjoy the game.”

Jamili, who played a limited role for the Lady Falcons, hopes to carve out a bigger role in the professional ranks.

“If I get the chance to play, I’ll give it my all and continue improving even more,” said Jamili. “I’ll just give my best and make the most of what I can offer. I’m willing to learn from my new team and from all my veteran teammates.”

Galanza believes Jamili has the tools to contribute to the Cool Smashers.

“She’s in a good team. Barbie is an all-around player. She’s not the tallest, but she has power and she’s explosive,” said Galanza. “At the end of the day, it’s all about the system. I think if she’s patient and hardworking, she’ll be able to adapt to Creamline’s system. She just has to stay patient and not rush things. If she doesn’t immediately get what she wants for herself, that’s okay. Her time will come.”
