MANILA, Philippines — Tin Tiamzon has found a home at Akari, becoming the latest former Cignal Super Spiker to join a new squad ahead of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season.
Akari on Sunday welcomed Tiamzon, who became a free agent after Cignal took a leave of absence.
Tiamzon will be a huge boost for the Chargers’ wing spiker rotation, teaming up with Grethcel Soltones, Ivy Lacsina, Faith Nisperos, Eli Soyud, and Chenie Tagaod.
The veteran outside spiker was instrumental in Cignal’s silver medal finish in the PVL All-Filipino Conference. She played her heart out in Game 2 with 14 points and 12 excellent receptions, only to fall short to Creamline in five sets.
Days after the finals, Cignal filed a leave of absence, with MVPs Vanie Gandler and Erika Santos finding a new home at Capital1.
Nxled, meanwhile, signed five-time Best Setter Gel Cayuna and Jackie Acuña. Erin Pangilinan struck a deal with Creamline, while Jewel Encarnacion bolstered Choco Mucho.
The Chargers will be Tiamzon’s third team after playing for F2 Logistics until its disbandment 2023 and came out of retirement last season to join the Super Spikers.
Akari missed the semifinals in the All-Filipino Conference, losing to Creamline in the last stage of the Play-In.
