MANILA, Philippines — Teaming up with Alyssa Solomon would be fun for Jean Asis should Galeries Tower pick the former National University star first overall in the 2026 PVL Rookie Draft on June 3 at Novotel.

Asis offered high praise for Solomon, who had stints with Osaka Marvelous in the Japan SV.League and Alas Pilipinas for the past two years.

Interestingly, the 6-foot-1 Solomon once trained with Galeries to keep herself in top shape weeks before she declared for the draft.

“When she (Solomon) trained with us before, she was really easy to play with on the court. You can feel that she’s someone you can rely on during games and competitions,” said the middle blocker, who was the second overall pick last year.

Solomon is the consensus top pick in this year’s draft, but picking first means Galeries has a lot of options.

“Honestly, I’m excited no matter who becomes my teammate as long as that player can really help the team. That’s what I’m looking forward to the most,” said Asis in Filipino.

“Whoever the coaches choose, as long as that person is willing to help the team improve and grow stronger, I’ll be happy with it.”

Regardless of ends up joining Galeries, Asis is excited for her team’s future.

“I think we just want to maintain the culture that we already have within the team,” said Asis. “There may just be additions to the roster, but overall we want to keep the same environment and identity we’ve been building in Galeries. I think whoever the new player is, they’ll eventually adapt to the culture we’re trying to build.”
