MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude-5.6 earthquake jolted Davao Oriental on Wednesday night, with aftershocks expected to follow, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 11:32 p.m., with its epicenter located approximately 22 kilometers northeast of Caraga.
The temblor was felt at Intensity 5 in Baganga, Caraga, Cateel and Tarragona in Davao Oriental.
Intensity 4 was felt in Compostela and Laak in Davao de Oro, and Tagum City in Davao del Norte as well as in Boston, Lupon, Manay and Mati in Davao Oriental.
Intensity 3 was felt in Mabini, Mawab, Monkayo, Montevista, Nabunturan and New Bataan in Davao de Oro; Carmen and New Corella in Davao del Norte; Malita in Davao Occidental, and Banaybanay and San Isidro in Davao Oriental.
Phivolcs said the quake was not expected to cause damage to property.
