MANILA, Philippines — A large fire that broke out in a residential area along NIA Road in Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City on Friday night, March 6 escalated to Task Force Bravo before firefighters declared the blaze under control early Saturday.

Authorities raised the alarm levels rapidly as firefighters responded to the incident in a densely populated neighborhood.

According to updates shared by emergency monitoring groups and local media reports, the fire reached Task Force Bravo status before crews brought the blaze under control at 1:50 a.m. Saturday.

More than 3,000 families have been displaced, according to early barangay reports.

Initial reports indicated the fire started around 9 p.m. Friday.

Emergency responders deployed additional firefighting units as the alarm level rose to Task Force Bravo.

Alarm levels escalated quickly as firefighters attempted to contain the flames:

  • 3rd alarm: 9:12 p.m.
  • 4th alarm: 9:22 p.m.
  • 5th alarm: 9:44 p.m.
  • Task Force Alpha: 10:50 p.m.
  • Task Force Bravo: 11:18 p.m.

The fire was declared under control in the early morning of Saturday, past midnight. The Bureau of Fire Protection later declared the fire out at 5:16 a.m.

Firefighters battle overnight blaze

Photos and videos from the scene showed firefighters battling flames that spread through tightly packed homes and structures.

Emergency responders deployed additional firefighting units as the alarm level rose to Task Force Bravo, one of the highest fire alert levels used in major incidents.

Authorities have yet to release official figures on damage, casualties or the number of affected households.

Situation. Authorities were continuing post-fire assessment operations in the affected community as of Saturday.

Officials are expected to release updates on the cause of the fire and the number of families displaced once damage assessment and investigation are completed.
