MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government, under the helm of Mayor Joy Belmonte, registered the highest revenue among  local government units (LGUs) in 2024, according to  the Commission on Audit.

Based on the COA’s 2024 Annual Financial Report on Local Governments, Quezon City generated P31.434 billion in revenue as of end-2024, up from P29.143 billion in the previous year.

Quezon City’s earnings proved to be the highest from among 1,694 LGUs covered in the audit report, besting 147 cities, 81 provinces and 1,462 municipalities.

The COA said the revenues of the LGUs include tax revenue, share from internal revenue collections, share from national taxes, service and business income, grants and donations, gains and other income sources.

No detailed revenue collection per LGU was provided in the report.

But the Quezon City government’s financial statement incorporated in the COA’s separate annual audit report for 2024 showed that the city’s increased revenue was mainly due to its higher real property tax collection amounting to P10.32 billion, from P9.99  billion in 2023.

Quezon City’s revenue collection from beneficiaries of socialized housing program reached P974.151 million in 2024, from P895.751 million in the previous year.

Others cities with the highest revenue collections in 2024 include Makati with P21.876 billion, Manila (P21.837 billion), Taguig (P20.569 billion), Davao City (P17.561 billion), Pasig (P17.004 billion), Parañaque (P10.638 billion), Pasay (P9.504 billion), Cebu City (P9.221 billion) and Caloocan (P8.698 billion).
