Here's what happened on Thursday, May 7, as leaders of Southeast Asian countries arrived in Cebu and their ministers held key meetings

CEBU, Philippines – Rappler’s Bea Cupin walks you through what’s been an event-packed day for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations on Thursday, May 7, ahead of the main meetings on Friday, May 8, when the bloc’s leaders converge for the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu.

On Thursday, foreign ministers and economic ministers met, ASEAN leaders arrived, the Philippines convened a special Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area or BIMP-EAGA Summit, and Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. held a trilateral meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to discuss the two countries’ long-standing border dispute.
