MANILA, Philippines — A red rainfall warning remained in effect over Metro Manila and several areas in Luzon on Saturday afternoon as the southwest monsoon or habagat continued to bring heavy rains over the region.
In its 2 p.m. advisory, state weather bureau PAGASA warned of serious flooding in flood-prone areas under the red warning level.
The following areas remained under the red warning level:
- Zambales
- Bataan
- Pampanga
- Tarlac
- Bulacan
- Metro Manila
- Cavite
- Rizal
- Batangas: Nasugbu, Lian, Calatagan, Balayan and Tuy
PAGASA said serious flooding is expected in flood-prone areas under the red warning level.
Meanwhile, flooding remained threatening in areas under the orange warning level, including:
- Laguna
- Batangas: Agoncillo, Alitagtag, Balete, Batangas City, Bauan, Calaca, Tanauan, Cuenca, Ibaan, Laurel, Lemery, Lipa, Mabini, Malvar, Mataasnakahoy, San Jose, San Luis, San Nicolas, San Pascual, Santa Teresita, Santo Tomas, Taal, Talisay and Tingloy
- Nueva Ecija: Guimba, Licab, Zaragoza, Aliaga, Jaen, San Antonio, Cabiao, Gapan, San Isidro, San Leonardo, General Tinio, Peñaranda, Santa Rosa, Quezon and Cabanatuan
Flooding in flood-prone areas was also possible in locations under the yellow warning level, including:
- Batangas: Lobo, Padre Garcia, Rosario, San Juan and Taysan
- Quezon: Sariaya, Candelaria, Dolores, Tiaong, San Antonio, Lucena, Tayabas, Lucban, General Nakar, Infanta, Real, Mauban, Sampaloc and Pagbilao
- Nueva Ecija: Bongabon, Carranglan, Cuyapo, Gabaldon, General Mamerto Natividad, Laur, Llanera, Lupao, Nampicuan, Palayan, Pantabangan, Rizal, San Jose, Santo Domingo, Muñoz, Talavera and Talugtug
Meanwhile, light to moderate rains with occasional heavy rains were affecting parts of Quezon and may persist within the next three hours.
The affected areas are Agdangan, Alabat, Atimonan, Buenavista, Burdeos, Calauag, Catanauan, General Luna, Guinayangan, Gumaca, Jomalig, Lopez, Macalelon, Mulanay, Padre Burgos, Panukulan, Patnanungan, Perez, Pitogo, Plaridel, Polillo, Quezon, San Andres, San Francisco, San Narciso, Tagkawayan and Unisan.
