MANILA, Philippines —  The remains of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who died in Lebanon finally arrived in her hometown  in Dipolog City on Tuesday, weeks after an apparent mix-up of repatriated bodies triggered anguish among relatives.

The body of Honeylith Zamoras was brought by Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac and representatives from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.

Cacdac apologized to the Zamoras family for the misidentification and swapping of the remains of deceased OFWs.

The DMW said it is pursuing efforts to identify people liable for the mishandling of the remains, and provided initial financial assistance to the family.
