MANILA, Philippines — The repair of the collapsed portion of the Davao-Bukidnon Road in Davao City will start today, Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon announced yesterday.

Dizon said President Marcos wanted the repairs on the road started as soon as possible to prevent delays in the delivery of vegetables and other agricultural products in the region.

“We will begin the repair works. This is just a temporary solution,” Dizon said in a statement, noting that the Department of Public Works and Highways is looking for a long-term solution to the problem.

Dizon inspected the road section in Barangay Marilog Proper on Thursday, after the thoroughfare collapsed on July 17.

“We need to provide a long-term solution. We need to design this correctly, considering the danger in the area,” he said.
