MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Police District (MPD) will implement road closures and traffic rerouting in portions of Manila starting Sunday, July 26, in preparation for the fifth State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Closed roads include Mendiola, Liwasang Bonifacio and Ayala Bridge.
The following are the specific closed roads:
Liwasang Bonifacio, MacArthur and Quezon Bridges
- Magallanes Drive: Closed along the stretch from Jones Bridge to MacArthur Bridge.
- McArthur Bridge: Southbound lane closed from Plaza Lacson to Liwasang Bonifacio.
- Quezon Boulevard: Southbound lane closed from the corner of A. Mendoza/Fugoso St. leading to Quezon Bridge and Liwasang Bonifacio.
- Lerma Street: Southbound lane closed from España Blvd./P. Campa St. to A. Mendoza Blvd.
Chino Roces Bridge (Mendiola Area)
- C.M. Recto Avenue: Closed along the stretch from N. Reyes St. to Mendiola St.
- Legarda Street: Closed along the stretch from Figueras St. to San Rafael St.
Ayala Bridge Area
- Ayala Bridge: Entirely closed to vehicular traffic.
- Ayala Boulevard: Eastbound lane closed from San Marcelino St. to Romualdez St.
Meanwhile, the following are the rerouting schemes and alternative routes:
Liwasang Bonifacio and North-South Corridors
- From P. Burgos Ave. (Northbound): Vehicles intending to take Magallanes Drive must proceed straight to Jones Bridge toward their destination.
- From Plaza Sta. Cruz: Vehicles intending to use the southbound lane of McArthur Bridge must turn right onto Dasmariñas St., left onto Juan Luna St., and left at Plaza Cervantes toward Jones Bridge.
- From A. Mendoza St.: Vehicles heading toward the southbound lane of Quezon Blvd. (Quezon Bridge) must turn right onto Fugoso St., left onto T. Mapua St., and proceed to C.M. Recto Ave.
- From España Blvd.: Vehicles bound for the southbound lane of Quezon Blvd. (Quezon Bridge) must turn left onto N. Reyes St. toward C.M. Recto Ave.
Mendiola/C.M. Recto Area
- From Quezon Blvd. & C.M. Recto Ave.: Vehicles heading toward Mendiola St. must turn left onto N. Reyes St.
- From Sta. Mesa via Legarda St.: Vehicles bound for C.M. Recto Ave. must turn right onto Figueras St., proceed straight to Earnshaw St., and turn left onto S.H. Loyola St.
- From P. Casal St.: Vehicles heading to Mendiola St. must turn left onto San Rafael St., go straight to Bilibid Viejo St., and proceed toward Quezon Blvd.
Ayala Bridge Area
- From Romualdez St.: Vehicles bound for Ayala Bridge must turn left onto Ayala Blvd. and right onto Taft Ave., or continue straight to N. Lopez St., right onto A. Villegas St., and left onto C. Muñoz St.
- From San Marcelino St.: Vehicles intending to cross Ayala Bridge must turn right onto Ayala Blvd. toward Taft Ave., or proceed straight down San Marcelino St. and turn left onto U.N. Avenue.
- From Ayala Blvd. (Eastbound): Vehicles bound for Ayala Bridge must turn right onto San Marcelino St.
- From C. Palanca St.: Vehicles bound for Ayala Bridge must turn left onto P. Casal St.
- From P. Casal St.: Vehicles intending to take Ayala Bridge must turn right onto C. Palanca St.
