MANILA, Philippines — The Gokongwei Group’s Robinsons Hotels and Resorts (RHR) is setting a benchmark in inclusivity in the hospitality industry as it becomes the largest hotel group in the country to be certified as Muslim-friendly by the Department of Tourism (DOT).

A total of 22 RHR properties across the group’s extensive portfolio have received official Muslim-friendly certification from the DOT, including Grand Summit Hotel, Summit Hotels and Resorts, Go Hotels Plus, Go Hotels and its international brands, The Westin Manila and Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria.

RHR has implemented specialized facilities and services, including dedicated prayer spaces and specialized staff training to ensure hospitality that honors Muslim traditions and preferences to ensure a seamless experience for Muslim guests.

By securing the most certifications for a single hotel group in the country, RHR said it has cemented its position as an industry leader, advocating for a more inclusive and culturally aware landscape for all visitors. 

Grand Summit Hotel General Santos was the first RHR property to receive the distinction, with its prayer room lauded by the DOT as one of the best in the country.

“This certification is a testament to our deep respect for the Muslim community, which is an increasingly vital and vibrant part of our national tourism landscape,” RHR vice president and business unit general manager Barun Jolly said.

“By certifying 22 of our properties, we are ensuring our hospitality is world-class and inclusive. We are honored to support the Department of Tourism’s vision of a more diverse and globally accessible industry where every traveler, regardless of faith, feels truly at home,” he said.

Jolly, however, said the group is not resting on its laurels and is constantly looking for ways to be truly deserving of the recognitions and citations.

RHR was also recently named “Philippines’ Leading Hotel Group” at the World Travel Awards Asia and “Best Hospitality Developer” at the Property Guru Asia Property Awards.
