MANILA, Philippines —  Former Bangsamoro parliament member Edrieza Hadji Nasser Rimbang, the alleged financier and mastermind in the aborted shipment of 521 kilos of shabu worth P3.54 billion from Laos to the Philippines, is expected to submit his sworn statement next week.

Rimbang will appear at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency on Nov. 5 to give his side, according to his three lawyers following a meeting with PDEA officials.

“His lawyers came to our office and committed to present him on Nov. 5,” PDEA spokesman Joseph Frederick Calulut told reporters.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)’s probe showed that Rimbang allegedly paid P11.5 million to smuggle the illegal drugs into the Philippines.

He was among the 40 people and companies of interest summoned by the CIDG in connection with the drug shipment.

Rimbang has denied that he financed the attempted smuggling of the contraband.
