Barangay Ginebra guard RJ Abarrientos during Game 6 of the PBA semifinals against Rain or Shine.–MARLO CUETO/INQUIRER.net
ANTIPOLO—Barangay Ginebra guard RJ Abarrientos was hardly in a celebratory mood after Game 6 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals against Rain or Shine.
It was somewhat odd, considering the Gin Kings’ 118-107 Game 6 win over the Elasto Painters secured them a ticket back to the PBA Finals.
But for him, there’s no reason to celebrate yet.

“We just need to move on. We won this semis series, but this isn’t our main goal,” Abarrientos said in Filipino at Ynares Sports Center here on Sunday.
“Our goal is still pretty far. We want to win four more so we’ll give our best and adjust whatever’s needed in the finals.”
In the Gin Kings’ return to the Finals, Abarrientos shone anew with 30 points, seven assists, six rebounds, three steals.
It was his second straight 30-point effort after he dropped 31 points with eight assists, four rebounds and two steals in Ginebra’s Game 5 win.

Aside from turning in another stellar performance, Abarrientos also helped Ginebra complete a tough task; win two straight against Rain or Shine in a best-of-seven series.
“It was so hard to get back-to-back wins in this series,” he said. “I think that part was the biggest for us, in terms of challenges.”
Ginebra faces the winner of the Meralco-TNT series, where the Tropang 5G lead, 3-2, in the championship round.
