MANILA, Philippines — Online games, including Roblox, are being monitored by the Philippine National Police (PNP) amid child exploitation concerns.
Authorities earlier flagged Roblox following reports of predators taking advantage of the game’s features to groom or exploit minors.
The PNP is coordinating with the Department of Information and Communications Technology as well as the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) to probe the extent of such activities.
“We will not allow our children to be exposed and exploited in this kind of online environment,” PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.
The police Anti-Cybercrime Group has been directed to step up intelligence monitoring of gaming applications.
The CICC reportedly gave Roblox until the end of the month to explain its safeguards to protect young users.
Other online games and social applications are also under surveillance, the PNP said.
