Rolando Dy risks Bare Knuckle title vs Scott McHugh in BKB 60

MANILA, Philippines–Rolando Dy stakes his Bare Knuckle Boxing (BKB) super welterweight title in the main event of BKB 60 on October 10 at Utilita Arena Newcastle in England.

Dy defends his belt against decorated British bare-knuckle fighter Scott McHugh, replacing the previously announced heavyweight headliner featuring hometown bet Mick Terrill and Kamil Sokolowski

“Rolando Dy vs. Scott McHugh is exactly the kind of fight we want at the top of the bill for our first-ever event in Newcastle,” said BKB CEO David Tetreault. “Dy has been on an incredible run in BKB, while McHugh is a proven champion who has been in some of the toughest fights in the history of the sport.”

“When you put these two together, you have the makings of a tremendous main event, and we expect both fighters to bring everything they have when they step into the Trigon on October 10. Newcastle is in for a special night.”

After an 11-year career as a mixed martial artist, including four fights in the UFC, the heavy-handed Dy transitioned to bare-knuckle boxing, where he’s had much success.

He’s 6-1 with five knockouts in BKB, including a second-round KO win over former two-division world boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi last May in Manchester, England.

The 35-year-old Dy, son of Filipino boxing legend Rolando Navarette, became the first and only Filipino BKB champion when he beat Liam Reese on points in December of last year in Wales.

Standing in Dy’s way is McHugh (17-5, 7 KOs), a five-time BKB champion and Bare Knuckle Hall of Fame inductee. The Leeds native is currently riding a five-fight winning streak, with three of those wins coming by KOs. He looks to add another belt to his impressive list of accolades in front of a home crowd.

In the co-main event, two of BKB’s top-ranked super middleweights go head-to-head once more, as Scotland’s David Winiarski (7-1, 7 KOs) takes on Wales’ undefeated Keiron Harding (3-0, 3 KOs) in a highly anticipated rematch of their Fight of the Night encounter back at BKB 49.

Also on the card, former IBF world champion Joseph “JoJo” Diaz Jr. (1-0, 1 KO) returns to the Trigon following his successful BKB debut at BKB 56 in Los Angeles, while undefeated super welterweight Adel Altamimi (3-0, 3 KOs) looks to continue his streak of knockout victories.
