Ruffa Gutierrez said she hopes to meet her ex-husband, Yilmaz Bektas, once again.
On Thursday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Ruffa, who is celebrating her birthday this month, was hypothetically asked who she wants to see in the gathering.
"Well, ako, gusto ko si Yilmaz. Kasi ang tagal na naming 'di nagkita. On the phone, naging magkaibigan na kami, nagtetelebabad kami, and I think 'pag in person, aabot kami ng mga eight hours siguro 'pag nagkuwento kami," she said.
She amusingly recalled their playful arguments even over the phone about how they first met, with each claiming the other pursued them.
"I think it's been more than like 20 years since we last saw each other, since the last time he came to visit me here. So marami kaming pag-uusapan, especially tungkol sa mga anak namin. It may not have to be romantic, but I think it will be nice to have a nice dinner with him," she said.
She underscored the necessity of their continued communication due to their children.
"Because we have children, we still have to talk. And it's better if you talk and you're in good terms, na magkaibigan kayo," she said.
Their current amicable relationship was not easily achieved. Ruffa admitted that it took a significant amount of time and effort to reach this point.
"It took a while to get there, Tito Boy, ha. So nag-away kami nang ilang years. Ilang years din kaming hindi nag-usap. May mga times na galit na galit ako sa phone. So ngayon nag-iingat na ako on how to talk about [it]," she said.
Addressing public speculation, Ruffa said that Yilmaz is currently single.
"He's never been married kasi ang daming nagsasabi he got married again after me. Hindi totoong nagkaroon siya ng bagong asawa. Nagkaroon siya ng fiancée, hindi natuloy. And he doesn't have any children after Lorin and Venice," she said.
After separating in 2007, Ruffa and Yilmaz were granted an annulment.
They have two daughters together, Lorin and Venice, who reunited with their dad in Turkiye three years ago. They visited him again this year. —Carby Rose Basina/MGP, GMA Integrated News
