MANILA, Philippines — Actor and singer Sam Milby is determined to continue his fitness journey despite his battle with diabetes, saying he refuses to give up on living his best life.
In a recent Instagram post, the 42-year-old actor showed off his fit physique while reflecting on how his diagnosis initially affected his outlook on fitness.
“When I found out I had diabetes, I was really discouraged. At 42, I almost gave up on my fitness journey,” Sam said.
“But I realized giving up isn’t an option. I just need to keep fighting,” he added.
Despite the challenges brought by his condition, Sam said he has chosen to keep moving forward and focus on living life to the fullest.
“Despite the challenges, I choose to live my best life. And I’m just starting,” he said.
Sam publicly disclosed on October 30, 2025, that he had been diagnosed with latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA), also known as type 1.5 diabetes.
LADA is a form of autoimmune diabetes that develops in adulthood and shares characteristics of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It is a progressive condition that may initially resemble type 2 diabetes but eventually requires insulin treatment in many cases.
