MANILA, Philippines — Listed tricycle drivers in San Juan yesterday received P5,000 in financial assistance, according to Mayor Francis Zamora.
All 621 beneficiaries received P5,000 on the first day of the cash aid distribution at the Makabagong San Juan National Government Center Theater, Zamora said.
“They are members of TODAs (Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations) in San Juan. Their driver’s licenses matched the names submitted to the DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development),” he said.
Jeepney drivers, transport network vehicle services, utility vehicle express drivers, motorcycle taxi riders and bus drivers will be included in the next batch of beneficiaries, Zamora said.
Validation of beneficiaries from other transport sectors is being coordinated with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and Department of Transportation, he said.
Zamora, president of the Metro Manila Council, has urged beneficiaries to use the cash aid to soften the impact of soaring fuel prices.
