SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna — The San Pedro District Hospital is set to expand its bed capacity from 15 to 50 following the enactment of Republic Act 12205, a measure authored by Laguna 1st District Rep. Ann Matibag.

The law aims to address the growing demand for medical services in the rapidly developing city.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed the bill into law on May 8, marking a significant step toward improving health care accessibility for residents of San Pedro City.

Under the new law, additional funding will be allocated to hire more doctors, nurses and health care personnel to enhance the hospital's medical services. The expansion is expected to reduce patient overcrowding and provide better facilities for the community.

In related news, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has officially proclaimed Matibag for another term as representative of Laguna's first district after she ran unopposed in the midterm elections.

Matibag expressed gratitude for the trust given to her and vowed to continue pushing for more health care and infrastructure improvements in the district.

"This hospital expansion is just the beginning. We will keep working to ensure that every resident has access to quality medical care," the lawmaker said.

Local officials and residents have welcomed the development, citing the urgent need for upgraded health services in the area.

The San Pedro District Hospital expansion is expected to commence once the necessary funds are released, Matibag said.
