MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court said the case involving contractor Sarah Discaya over an alleged ghost project in Davao Occidental has been transferred to a court in Cebu.

Supreme Court Spokesperson Camille Ting said the two complaints against Discaya and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) engineers from Davao Occidental were transferred to a Regional Trial Court in Lapu-Lapu City.

"The determination of the nearest judicial region shall be made by the presiding or executive judge concerned," Ting said in a statement.

Ting said the transfer was in accordance with Supreme Court guidelines “directing that corruption-related cases arising from infrastructure projects be forwarded to the nearest designated anti-graft court of the nearest judicial region.”

This means that any warrant of arrest issued against Discaya or her co-accused would come from the Regional Trial Court in Lapu-Lapu City.

On November 15, the Supreme Court announced that it had designated Regional Trial Courts to serve as special courts for handling anti-graft cases.

The case involves an alleged P96.5 billion ghost project related to a revetment in Barangay Culaman, Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.

The project was awarded in January 2022 to St. Timothy Construction Corp., a company owned by Discaya.
