MANILA, Philippines — The production company co-run by singer-actress Sarah Geronimo made it clear the artist has no intention to seek public office following a viral, humorous remark that alluded to such actions.
Earlier this week a video of Sarah went viral during her appearance at an Earth Day run event sponsored by a brand she endorses.
Towards the end of her onstage segment, the singer jokingly asked attendees if they wanted her to sing before quipping she didn't actually have any material prepared.
"Stay safe everyone and remember, life is short. Make each moment count with our loved ones kasi hindi natin alam kung nandito pa tayo bukas," Sarah ended. "Maraming salamat po, iboto niyo po ako sa susunod na eleksyon!"
The latter part of her parting message circulated online prompting conversations that Sarah was throwing her hat in the political arena.
G Productions, Sarah's production company with husband Matteo Guidicelli, put to rest all those rumors with a clarificatory statement.
"We have seen a few clips making the rounds suggesting that Sarah is gearing up for the next election, or at least testing the waters," noted G Productions.
The company said Sarah's closing spiel was "a lighthearted moment meant purely for fun and crowd interaction," adding that the artist was "where she wants to be — on stage, doing what she loves, and inspiring people through her talent and artistry."
"We kindly ask everyone to enjoy the moment for what it was and resist adding any political color to an onstage joke," the company stressed to end.
