SB19 to throw first pitch in MLB game as part of US trip

SB19's Stell, Pablo, Ken, Justin, and Josh are set to make history as the first P-pop group to throw out the ceremonial first pitch in Major League Baseball

MANILA, Philippines – SB19 joins a growing list of notable Filipinos who have thrown the first pitch in a Major League Baseball game.

And the quintet of Stell, Pablo, Ken, Justin, and Josh is set to become the first Filipino group to do so as it takes part in the ceremonial throw when host Chicago White Sox take on the New York Yankees at Rate Field on July 29. 

Other Filipinos who had delivered the first pitch in an MLB game the past years include boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, beauty queen Pia Wurtzbach, actress Liza Soberano, football player Sarina Bolden, and gymnast Aleah Finnegan.

The MLB appearance is part of SB19’s global promo tour that will take the group to the United States and Japan.

SB19’s US trip includes performances at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, California, on July 28 and at the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago, Illinois, on July 30. 

The P-pop group will head to Japan for another music festival at the Summer Sonic, first in Osaka on August 14, then in Tokyo on August 15.

The tour also features the “I WaS There” thanksgiving fan meets in California, USA, on August 8 (Sacramento) and August 9 (Rohnert Park), and in Yokohama, Japan, on August 18. – Rappler.com
