MANILA, Philippines — Filipinos returning from the holiday weekend should brace for rain today as three weather systems affect different parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported.
A shear line will affect the Visayas and the eastern section of Southern Luzon, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms.
Residents in these areas are advised to watch out for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will continue to influence the rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region, with light to moderate rains expected in most areas.
The rest of Luzon is forecast to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
In Mindanao, easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Caraga, Palawan, Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental and Zamboanga del Norte, while the rest of the island will see isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Residents in flood- and landslide-prone areas are advised to remain vigilant.
PAGASA also warned of strong to gale northeast winds in the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas, with rough to very rough seas, while the rest of Luzon and Visayas will experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters.
Mindanao will generally have light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas.
