MANILA, Philippines — Police have intensified security measures at the Isulan National High School in Sultan Kudarat following a shooting scare on Wednesday.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) issued the directive a day after an alleged faulty electrical connection exploded, causing tension among students and teachers who thought a gunman has entered the campus in Barangay Kalawag 1.
The incident resulted in the suspension of in-person classes.
“The Sultan Kudarat and the Isulan police have been ordered to step up police visibility around the campus,” PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement.
Police have been ordered to ensure the safety and integrity of school buildings as well as monitor social media channels for possible threats to any establishment or institution.
