CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — Police investigators are hunting down a man who used a pellet gun to kill a 62-year-old man in Mabalacat City on Christmas Eve.

Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr., Central Luzon police director, said the case was initially reported as a stray-bullet incident, but it turned out to be false following an autopsy report.

Peñones said victim Raul Pangilinan was sitting in front of his house in Barangay San Francisco when a bullet hit his chest. Pangilinan was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died during treatment.

Pampanga police chief Col. Eugene Marcelo said the autopsy report showed that the pellet hit the victim’s ribs and ricocheted to his heart, causing his death.
