MANILA, Philippines — The Megastar herself Sharon Cuneta is the latest celebrity to back Naga City mayor Leni Robredo for the presidency in 2028 despite the former vice president ruling out a national election run.

Numerous surveys predict Leni as the biggest contender against current vice president and the former's successor, Sara Duterte, for the highest seat in the land come the polls in two years' time.

Leni ran for president in 2022 but lost to Sara's runningmate, Bongbong Marcos, and last week, Leni stated in an interview that she is no longer considering a national comeback.

"Malayo na sa horizon ko na babalik pa ako sa national," the lawyer-politican said, citing unfinished work in Naga and the limits of a three-year term in completing reforms.

Despite those remarks, many are still rooting for Leni to run for president like host-comedian Vice Ganda and now the Megastar.

"Dearest Ma'am Leni, PLEASE RECONSIDER… You are the one who can unite these different parties," Sharon wrote on Instagram, posting a media outlet's social card about Leni turning down a national run. "You have proven na ipaglalaban niyo ang PILIPINAS."

After wishing for Leni's victory in 2022, Sharon advised Leni to "choose a great" running mate who "will garner more support than ever before," and that will garner Sharon and husband Kiko Pangilinan's all-out support.

Kiko was Leni's running mate in 2022. He finished behind Sara but he managed a successful return to the Senate in 2025.

"Ma'am, mas madami na pong 'di hamak na umaasa sa inyo ngayon… Please, Ma'am Leni," Sharon continued. "We are all storming the heavens with our prayers for you to change your mind and run once more-just one more time po Ma'am, for President."

The actress-singer reiterated that many were waiting for Leni's reconsideration, "Support is gathering for you more than ever. Just say the word, Ma'am…"

Sharon ended her Instagram post by sharing that her and Kiko's adopted son, Miguel, would visit Leni in Naga to speak with her and remind the former vice president what she told her during Kiko's victory dinner last May.
