Signal No. 1 has been hoisted over several areas due to Tropical Depression Basing on Friday, February 6 2026.

MANILA, Philippines — Cyclone Basyang has weakened into a tropical depression as it made its way across Visayas and Mindanao, with state meteorologists retaining a Signal No. 1 warning over several areas on Friday, February 6. 

As of PAGASA’s 11 am weather bulletin, Basyang is above the coastal waters of Anda, Bohol. It is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 70 kph. It is moving northwestward at 10 kph. 

The following areas are under Signal No. 1 (wind speeds up to 61 kph): 

  • Luzon: The southern portion of Occidental Mindoro (San Jose, Magsaysay, Rizal, Calintaan, Sablayan), the southern portion of Oriental Mindoro  (Mansalay, Bulalacao, Gloria, Pinamalayan, Bansud, Bongabong, Roxas), Romblon, the northern portion of Palawan  (Taytay, El Nido, Dumaran, Araceli, Roxas, San Vicente) including Cuyo Islands, Cagayancillo Islands, and Calamian Islands, and the southern portion of Masbate (Balud, Mandaon, Milagros, Esperanza, Placer, Cawayan) 
  • Visayas: The southern portion of Eastern Samar (Guiuan, Salcedo, Mercedes, Giporlos, Balangiga, Lawaan, Quinapondan, General Macarthur, Hernani, Llorente, Balangkayan, City of Borongan, Maydolong), the southern portion of Samar  (Marabut, Basey, Santa Rita, Daram, Talalora, Zumarraga, Villareal, Pinabacdao, Calbiga),  Guimaras, Iloilo, Capiz, Antique, Aklan, Biliran, Bohol, Cebu, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Siquijor 
  • Mindanao: Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte including Siargao - Bucas Grande Islands, Agusan del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, the northern portion of Surigao del Sur (Lianga, San Agustin, Marihatag, Cagwait, Bayabas, Cantilan, Carrascal, San Miguel, Tago, Cortes, City of Tandag, Lanuza, Carmen, Madrid, Barobo) the northern and central portion of Agusan del Sur (San Francisco, La Paz, Talacogon, San Luis, Prosperidad, Sibagat, City of Bayugan, Esperanza) the northern and central portions of Bukidnon  (Lantapan, Talakag, Cabanglasan, City of Malaybalay, Libona, Manolo Fortich, Malitbog, Impasug-Ong, Sumilao, Baungon, City of Valencia), the eastern portion of Lanao del Norte (Iligan City, Pantar, Baloi, Tagoloan, Matungao, Linamon, Kauswagan, Pantao Ragat, Poona Piagapo), the northern portion of Misamis Occidental (Rizal, Sibutad, La Libertad, Dapitan City, Dipolog City, Mutia, Piñan, Polanco, Katipunan), the northernmost portion of Lanao del Sur (Tagoloan II, Kapai, Saguiaran, Marawi City), and the eastern portion of Zamboanga del Norte (Rizal, Sibutad, La Libertad, Dapitan City, Dipolog City, Mutia, Piñan, Polanco, Katipunan)

A storm surge as high as 2 meters is also possible in the following areas within the next 48 hours: Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Cuyo Islands, Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Cebu, Bohol, Southern Leyte, Leyte, Camiguin, Agusan del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental 

PAGASA reminded the public that even if their area does not have an active signal warning, they could still experience rain and winds. A heavy rainfall warning is in effect over Palawan, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, Antique, Iloilo, and Guimaras. These areas may experience rains of up to 200 mm. 

Meanwhile, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Southern Leyte, Leyte, Aklan, Capiz ,Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Agusan del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, and Zamboanga del Norte may experience rains ranging from 50 mm to 100 mm. 

PAGASA has also warned of moderate to rough seas in the following areas: 

  • Up to 4.0 m: The seaboard of Northern Samar, Agusan del Norte, Camiguin, Siquijor, Misamis Oriental, and Misamis Occidental; the eastern seaboards of Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, and  Siargao-Bucas Grande Islands; the northern seaboard of Lanao del Norte; the southern seaboards of Southern Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental, and Negros Occidental.
  • Up to 3.5 m: The northern seaboards of Camarines Sur and Catanduanes; the northern seaboard of Zamboanga del Norte; the southern seaboards of Antique, Iloilo, and Guimaras; the remaining seaboards of Bohol and Lanao del Norte.
  • Up to 3.0 m: The seaboards of Aurora and northern Quezon; the northern and eastern seaboards of Polillo Islands; the northern seaboard of Camarines Norte.
  • Up to 2.5 m: The seaboard of Isabela and Leyte; the eastern seaboard of mainland Cagayan; the remaining seaboards of Southern Leyte, Cebu, Bohol, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Zamboanga del Norte.
  • Up to 2.0 m: The seaboards of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Cuyo Islands, Cagayancillo Islands, and Sarangani; the western seaboard of Zamboanga del Norte; the northern and western seaboards of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi; the southern seaboards of Occidental Mindoro and Oriental Mindoro; the remaining seaboards of Quezon, Bicol Region, and Western Visayas.
