MANILA, Philippines — Walls, textures and artistic imagination came together at the recently concluded Sinclair National Art Competition, where decorative finishes took on a new role—not just as building materials, but as tools for creative expression.

Held at the Sinclair Pro Store in Del Monte, Quezon City on February 26, the event brought together artists, designers, partners and guests for an evening celebrating the intersection of art, design and surface innovation.

The space itself transformed into a vibrant gallery, showcasing works created using Sinclair Makaw Microcement Lime Plaster and Effect Paints.

Traditionally used in architectural and interior applications, these decorative finishes became the artists’ medium of choice—allowing them to explore texture, depth and movement in ways that go beyond conventional painting.

Through layered surfaces and tactile finishes, the artworks invited viewers to experience how materials can shape mood, atmosphere and spatial storytelling.

Organized by Sinclair The New Generation Paints, in partnership with the United Artists Society, the nationwide initiative forms part of the company’s celebration of its 25th Anniversary and National Arts Month.

The competition encouraged artists to experiment with materials typically used in construction and design, opening up new possibilities at the intersection of fine art and architecture.

Guests at the event were able to experience the works up close, seeing how microcement textures, lime-based finishes and special effects paints can transform ordinary surfaces into visually rich compositions.

The exhibit offered a glimpse into how decorative finishes—often associated with walls and interiors—can also serve as expressive canvases for contemporary artists.

More than a competition, the event became a gathering of creative minds, bringing together artists and the design community for a shared exploration of texture, material and imagination.

As Sinclair The New Generation Paint celebrates 25 years of innovation, the success of the National Art Competition reflects a growing appreciation for surfaces that do more than decorate spaces—they inspire them.
