MANILA, Philippines — Local ticketing service and box office provider SM Tickets is gearing up for a massive partnership with Ticketmaster, the largest ticket sales and distribution company in the world.
SM Tickets teased the partnership on their social media pages, revealing that it would soon transition to SM Ticketmaster.
The deal will see the local operating experience of SM Prime, which oversees SM Tickets, combine with Ticketmaster's global ticketing technology.
"This means a more reliable, secure, and convenient way to purchase tickets for the shows and events you love," SM Tickets said, sharing that more details would be announced soon.
Initial reception of the partnership was mixed. Some celebrated a larger avenue for fans to purchase tickets but many pointed out that Ticketmaster has a reputation overseas by drawing controversy.
The company has been accused of secretly selling tickets to scalpers to mark up prices and a couple of years some countries reported data breachers for users purchasing on the platform.
Recent global concerts affected by Ticketmaster's issues include Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Drake, and most recently Oasis.
