MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested a 59-year-old man who allegedly opened fire at a basketball court inside a condominium complex in Parañaque City, killing two people and injuring four others.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Saturday presented the suspect, William de Guzman, who was arrested by members of the Southern Police District in Barangay Moonwalk on Friday during a hot pursuit operation.

Authorities said the shooting occurred at 7:59 p.m. on March 4 at the basketball court of the condominium complex.

Investigation showed that De Guzman approached a 57-year-old victim, identified only as Edwin, who was watching a basketball game outside the covered court, and shot him.

Police said the suspect then entered the court and fired several more shots at players and spectators.

A teenager, identified as Rjay Gonzalez, was killed in the incident. Four others sustained injuries and were brought to hospitals for treatment.

Investigators said De Guzman and one of the victims had an ongoing dispute linked to noise allegedly coming from the latter’s condominium unit.

The suspect had reportedly filed complaints with the condominium management in December 2025 and again in February this year.

Authorities recovered two 9mm pistols, several magazines and live ammunition from the suspect.

Police are preparing charges of two counts of murder, four counts of frustrated murder and violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act against the suspect.
