Taal Volcano stays calm after minor eruption

LUCENA CITY — Despite a minor phreatomagmatic eruption on Friday night, Jan. 9, Taal Volcano in Batangas province remained seismically calm over the past 24 hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported. In its Saturday morning bulletin, Phivolcs said Taal recorded only two volcanic tremors, each lasting between two and four minutes.
