HAVE you ever tried thrift shopping at the “ukay-ukay”? The idea of buying used clothes from God knows where didn’t appeal to me until one day before the pandemic when a light just switched on in my head. By the way, refrain from saying “close” or “open” the lights and instead say, “turn off” or “turn on.” Anyway, since trying it for the first time, I have been going on an ukay spree once in a while, and each visit was worth the body aches from standing for minutes and sometimes even hours and rummaging through rows and rows of clothes, which really is harder than you think. Yesterday, we chanced upon a friendlier version in one of the condos near the church we go to every Sunday in Eastwood. Well, it was more of a garage sale than an ukay, but it was as exciting anyway. I loved the pieces we scored! We got a Japanese-inspired Adidas windbreaker jacket, an oversized Adidas shirt and a Nautica long-sleeved polo, all for P1,700. Now that’s bang for the buck! Any ukay recommendations? Would love to see them in the comments. May the ukay gods be ever in your favor!
