MANILA, Philippines — Newly appointed Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) general manager and former police general Nicolas Torre can enforce the needed discipline, especially among motorists, in Metro Manila, Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Alfredo Garbin said yesterday.

Garbin, vice chairman of the House committees on dangerous drugs, on justice and constitutional amendments, said Torre’s appointment as MMDA general manager is highly welcome.

“General Nicolas Torre, as MMDA general manager, is a welcome appointment because he can enforce discipline on the streets of Metro Manila and among the ranks of MMDA traffic enforcers and personnel responsible for flood control and garbage collection,” Garbin said in a statement.

“His appointment to the MMDA means he is expected to work together with Metro Manila Council chairman Mayor Francis Zamora and MMDA chairman Don Artes. Teamwork is essential for this triumvirate to deliver quality public service for the National Capital Region,” he added.
