MANILA, Philippines — Amie Provido and the La Salle Lady Spikers are not letting their guards down as they try to complete a perfect campaign to rule the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament.
Game 2 is on Saturday at Mall of Asia Arena.
Provido stood tall in Finals Game 1 on Wednesday with 12 points, highlighted by four kill blocks, as La Salle swept defending champion National University, 25-23, 25-18, 25-18, to inch closer to ending a three-year title drought.
The Alas Pilipinas middle blocker was happy with their performance as a team, but she insisted that the job’s not finished.

“We always remind each other not to be complacent,” said Provido in Filipino.
“This season isn’t about how we started, it’s about how we finish. We already got the opportunity to win Game 1, but the fight isn’t over yet. We’ll keep giving our best in training to prepare for Saturday’s game.”
La Salle is eyeing its 13th title and its first since Season 85. The Taft-based squad missed the finals that following year and got swept by NU last year.
The Lady Spikers may still need to shrug off the effects of a 17-day layoff since clinching an outright finals berth after a 14-0 elimination round sweep.
But the break still gave them an extra edge with their fresh legs.
“The break really helped us recover because our elimination round schedule was so hectic with back-to-back games. It gave our bodies time to rest and helped lessen some of the aches and pains,” said Provido.
“It was really helpful. We also focused on improving the individual skills we felt we still lacked as a team. We worked on those, plus our connection on the court. The tune-up games also helped us a lot.”
